Licence and Authority
Energy Canada is licensed by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) as an electricity retailer under the Energy Consumer Protection Act, 2010 (ECPA) and applicable regulations and codes.
Electricity Retail Contracts
Under an electricity retail contract, Energy Canada supplies electricity to customers at the price and on the terms set out in the contract.
Energy Canada does not:

Own or operate electricity transmission or distribution systems

Read the electricity meters

Control electricity delivery, reliability, outages, or restoration

These services are provided by your local electricity distributor.
Pricing Disclosure
Electricity prices under a retail contract may differ from prices set by the Ontario Energy Board.
Your contract will clearly set out:

The price of electricity

The contract term
-
Any applicable fees or charges
You will continue to receive a bill from your local distributor, which may include charges from both the distributor and Energy Canada.
Electricity retail contracts do not guarantee savings.
Prices under a contract may be higher or lower than regulated prices over the contract term.
Consumer Rights
The Energy Consumer Protection Act, 2010 (ECPA) provides important protections, including:
The right to receive a written copy of the contract

A 10-day cooling-off period to cancel without penalty

The right to cancel if required disclosures are not provided

Rules governing how contracts may be marketed and entered into
The cooling-off period begins when you receive the written contract.
Sales and Marketing
Energy Canada conducts all sales and marketing activities in compliance with the ECPA, Ontario regulations, and OEB requirements.
Representatives are required to:

Identify themselves and Energy Canada

Provide accurate and non-misleading information

Comply with all applicable consumer protection requirements
